Revd Karen Wellman – Vicar

Revd Karen joined St Mark’s in September 2015. She served her curacy in the busy town centre parish of St Michael’s Church Basingstoke where she was mayor’s chaplain as well as undergoing a placement in a rural benefice which convinced her that although rural life is charming, as  Londoner born and bred, she would look for a job where there are buses and coffee shops. Before ordination she was an Authorised Lay Preacher at All Saints Church Wokingham and worked for Wokingham Borough Council as their adult social care records officer. Karen didn’t plan to be a records officer but it made sense as she loves story whether that is telling stories to explore faith with children in school assemblies, with the congregation on a Sunday morning or with the residents of Deer Park View Care Home.
